Always Improving Security At Tradeloop

In addition to our rigorous membership verification procedures for new Tradeloop wholesale members, we've added an additional security step at the sub-account level. Members can create as many sub-accounts as they need, but each sub-account will have to be reviewed/approved by Tradeloop before that user can send Broadcasts.

Some Tradeloop members have contacted us recently because they were concerned about unapproved members sending out Broadcasts. They'd receive a Broadcast, click on the sender's profile, and see a warning that the user had not been approved.

Now, new sub-account users will receive a message telling them that their sub-account is awaiting approval. They'll be able to send Broadcasts as soon as that process is complete. This is part of our commitment to protect the integrity of member accounts. We also require that a company name change or user name changes be reviewed by Tradeloop staff before they're approved - even if it's just to correct a spelling error.

Fraud and identity theft are no laughing matter. They ruin reputations and destroy trust between dealers. At Tradeloop, we'll continue to maintain strict standards that protect individual accounts and the entire trading community.

Members Must Verify Contact Information To Access Tradeloop Site

Tradeloop members should update their contact information whenever their phone number or email address changes. To protect the community from fraud, we block access to the Tradeloop site for any member with unverified or incorrect contact information.

Updating your contact information is simple. Just log into your Tradeloop account, select the "Sub-Accounts" link under the "Account" tab, and click on the "edit" link next to your account information. Enter your updated information and save it.

We've issued two Fast Track Fraud Alerts warning about attempted identity fraud just in the past few weeks. It's more important than ever for Tradeloop members to keep their information correct in the system and be alert when setting up deals - particularly with non-members.

Keep Your Contact Information Up To Date

Validation is the the most important part of email management and communication, and it starts with you! We can't validate your Tradeloop membership application without a valid email address. Other members can't contact you either. An invalid or non-working email address can also lead to account suspension.

We recently launched the Email and Report Center to give members a central location where they can manage emails, set email preferences, and more. Now, we've implemented more internal controls to validate email addresses when members register or create new sub accounts.

Tradeloop email error checking routines look for the following:

1. Only one email address can be entered into the email address field. We understand that many people use multiple email addresses, but each Tradeloop account and subaccount can only be associated with a single email address.

2. Emails must be in a valid format - like "yourname@yourcompany.com" not "yourname@yourcompany.com TL email."

3. Every subaccount must have a unique email address. Subaccount holders need this to upload parts lists and it also helps other dealers easily contact the right person in your company.

Note that none of these validation routines checks to see if the email is actually working. Our Customer Service staff does that when they validate membership applications. Tradeloop's email system also keeps track of email bounces: too many bounces may cause your account to be suspended. Bounces also look suspicious to other dealers because so many fraudulent companies use disposable or incorrect emails.

Avoid that problem by updating your Tradeloop account when you change your email address - or many any changes to your contact information.

Easier Parts List Management For Your Company

Any full access user can edit or update parts lists for any user in your company. Previously, users within the same company could view other users' inventory, but couldn't edit their lists.

This change should simplify parts management for Tradeloop members who have an administrative person manage the parts lists for salespeople. It's also a useful feature in other situations:

· One user leaves the company.
· A user transfers some of his products to another user.
· When account assignments change between users in a company.
· A user is tired of getting calls or emails about a particular part or product that's no longer available.

To use this new feature, go to your "My Account" tab. Directly under the "Parts and More" column on the right, there's a drop-down box that lists all your company's users. Click on the link for their parts detail, and you can add/edit/delete parts from there.

Note that this option is limited to full users; "Read Only" users don't have the authority to modify any account.

Sort Option Makes It Easier to Manage Your Subaccounts

Some Tradeloop members have just a few subaccounts set up, but others have dozens. Managing and keeping them current can be time-consuming, so use our new sort options to streamline subaccount management. With just a click of the mouse, you can sort by name, title, last login date and more.

This is a really useful option for members with numerous subaccounts. They can sort by last login date to see who's using Tradeloop regularly, sort by parts to see who is listing and keeping parts lists current, or by name or title to keep the employee list current. Active and inactive accounts display separately.

To use this new option, just log into your Tradeloop Account, click on the Users and Subaccounts link, and choose one of these sort options:
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Access privileges
  • Parts display
  • Last login
  • Parts
